DuckDuckGo, the search engine that leverages online privacy traffic, is gaining traction. Unlike older search engines like Bing or Google, DuckDuckGo neither tracks search results nor shows its user’s biased information. The search engine has partnered with the Brave browser. Crypto social media is now asking Brave Browser users with BAT tokens on the verge of expiry to consider donating them to DuckDuckGo.
The search engine, now a verified
Brave publisher, has received massive support from the crypto-verse for being
Google’s antithesis. DDG describes
itself as:
“An Internet privacy company that empowers you to seamlessly take control of your personal information online, without any tradeoffs. With our roots as the search engine that doesn’t track you, we’ve expanded what we do to protect you no matter where the Internet takes you”.
DuckDuckGo Donates to Privacy-Oriented Platforms

not accept donations. They, besides,
have said that they generate enough revenue to keep running. More so, their
traffic figure is skyrocketing by the day. Subsequently, DDG has asked all its
supporters to help them by spreading the word about their work via their “spread”
page. However, since their integration with Brave, word out is that they accept
BAT donations.
The search engine, nevertheless, has formulated
a fantastic way to utilize their fan’s goodwill. They support several
privacy-geared services, which they have listed on their website. Anyone
willing to help DDG can pick any of the organizations that fit their values.
DDG has so far donated over $500,000 to a list of 21 privacy-oriented
organizations.

BAT Disrupts the Online Content Creation Industry
Basic Attention Token (BAT) is a digital asset whose aim is to disrupt the online content creation industry. BAT is changing how online users engage with adverts and how content creators are rewarded. The token is based on Ethereum and was built alongside the Brave Browser its native platform.
The Brave Browser has quickly amassed a user base of over 5.5 million active users per month. The web browser uses BAT to pay publishers and content creators, through tips by users and fans. Users can also earn BAT from Ad viewership. Brave and BAT were designed by Brendan Eich, the brain behind JavaScript and Firefox Browser’s founder.
Furthermore, the privacy-centric browser has an integrated ad blocker and is said to be 2 to 8 times faster than Safari and Chrome on mobile. It is also two times faster than desktop Chrome. Since there are, no unsolicited ads on Brave, users are given Brave Rewards in BAT if they opt into the non-intrusive ad viewership program.
Privacy, Privacy and More Privacy
Besides, the Brave Browser has an integrated Basis Attention Token (BAT) wallet. The tokens acquired from the browser can be withdrawn via Uphold in the form of any currency of choice. Even so, BAT tokens received as grants on Brave have expiry dates. The user, therefore, has to donate them to a BAT verified content creator within the specified time. The BAT purchased and earned from Brave, is nonetheless personal property and can be sold or held at the user’s convenience.
These novel blockchain startups are making great strides in the data privacy arena. Tide for instance is also becoming a key player in the niche. The blockchain startup’s focus is the protection of sensitive data entrusted to businesses as well as individuals, handing users keys to their data.
